Meggitt is one of the world’s top military companies, exporting military components to repressive regimes across the globe – including Israel, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt. Meggitt Defence Systems UK is based in Ashford.
In 2010, the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills gave Meggitt 3 export licences to export weapons to Israel. These were for bomb components, drone components and aircraft components.
Instro is a subsidiary of the Israeli based company Azimuth Technologies Ltd which is owned by Elbit Systems. Elbit is Israel’s largest arms company, major supplier to the IDF, and a leading drone provider.
In 2010, Instro received export licences to Israel from the UK Government for equipment ‘designed for military use’.
